Sonia Faleiro

Sonia Faleiro is an award-winning journalist and writer.

She was born in Goa, and has lived in New Delhi and Edinburgh. She now lives in Bombay.

The Girl (Viking, 2006) is her first novel. Her short stories and non fiction appear in First Proof : The Penguin Book of New Writing From India II (2006), Reflected in Water: Writings on Goa ( Penguin, 2006), The Fiction Collection: Twenty Years of Penguin India (2007), India (ISBN Edizioni, 2008) and AIDS Sutra: Untold Stories from India (Random House, August 2008).

She is working on her second book, a non fiction account of the lives of Bombay's bar dancers.
